Since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, over 1000 Americans have had all or part of their leg amputated due to injury. In that same time period, over 70,000 Californians have had all or part of their leg amputated as a result of diabetes.
Youth Speaks in partnership with The California Diabetes Program is invested in re-framing the national dialogue around Diabetes through the power of youth voice. Under the creative direction of Jamie DeWolf, we have produced a series of compelling multimedia stories inspired by the poetry of local Bay Area artists that personalize the broader social and political implications Diabetes has on the present and future lives of young people everywhere. It is precisely through these small, intentional acts of storytelling that we can build awareness and share resources in the name of a healthier tomorrow.
Change the conversation about diabetes. Raise your voice and open your eyes to the Bigger Picture!
